The brief...

Mabey Hire and Pure Structures were tasked with creating a system to lift a historic cottage by 450mm, restoring it to a 1-in-1,000-year flood standard on the river Avon.

They engaged Welton Media to capture this engineering feat, using creative angles, timelapse and drone footage to showcase the precision, skill and the innovation behind the project.

The challenge...

The lift took place over two days and consisted of seven lifts, each lasting around ten minutes and raising the property by up to 8cm each time. With very little visible movement at any one time, capturing the process in an engaging way was the main challenge.

Timelapse was the solution. Cameras were positioned in key locations to capture the full lift, with additional smaller cameras placed inside the foundations once the house had been raised by around 25cm. This allowed us to capture close-up timelapse footage of the pistons raising the property.

Between lifts, the engineers spent time resetting and securing the structure. We used this downtime to film interviews and capture drone and steadicam footage, adding pace and visual interest to the final film.

The delivery...

Mabey Hire are now using the video as a core case study to clearly demonstrate the quality and complexity of their work. It has been met with very positive feedback internally and is already driving strong engagement across their social media platforms, helping extend its reach and impact.
